Banff National Park

Xplorer Program for Kids

Are you aged 6-11? Do you like to hike or bike, complete a quiz or crossword puzzle, or use your GPS to find a mystery location? Then the Xplorer program is just the right adventure for you!

Xplorer kids and their family can discover cool facts about Canada’s first national park by completing activities from the Xplorer Booklet while visiting Banff and Lake Louise.

There are 22 activities in the Xplorer booklet and kids are encouraged to complete at least 6 of them to receive a souvenir.

Where do I get information and pick up the Xplorer Booklet?

Visit one of the following locations or speak to a park interpreter to pick up an Xplorer booklet and learn about other activities and programs for kids in Banff National Park.

  • Banff Visitor Centre, 224 Banff Avenue
  • Cave & Basin National Historic Site, 91 Banff Avenue
  • Lake Louise Visitor Centre, 201 Village Road
  • Parks Canada Campground Kiosks

What happens after I’ve completed 6 activities in my Xplorer Booklet?

Kids and their families can head to one of the following locations to receive an Xplorer certificate and souvenir. They can choose to participate in an informal Xplorer ceremony acknowledging their achievements.

  • Banff Visitor Centre, 224 Banff Avenue
  • Cave & Basin National Historic Site, 91 Banff Avenue
  • Lake Louise Visitor Centre, 201 Village Road
  • Parks Canada Evening Interpretive Programs (summer only)

Can I participate in the Xplorer Club Program if I’m not visiting Banff National Park?

The Xplorer Club is best experienced while in a national park, but if you are not able to visit, download your brochure.
