Join Laurie Schwartz from Parks Canada’s Mountain WIT as she delves into the intriguing life of explorer, artist and "mountain woman" Mary Schäffer with a dramatic reading of her unpublished writing, illustrated by images from the Whyte Museum Archives.

Get a taste of the old days when you cook your own sample of "Trapper's Bannock" at our cozy campfire. Hear the legends of winter adventures in early Banff.


Hands-on Bison

Saturday and Sunday, January 16, 17, 23 and 24, from noon to 3 p.m.
Did you know that bison are ecosystem engineers? Or that they were almost hunted to extinction after 10,000 years of sustaining people in North America? Find out how Parks Canada plans to bring Plains Bison back to Banff National Park. Discover the stories of the bison through our special temporary interactive exhibit in the Banff Park Museum.
