The Parks Canada Agency administers 145 national historic sites, 39 national parks
and park reserves and 3 national marine conservation areas. At several
designated priority sites, Parks Canada is developing and implementing
site-specific action plans to achieve the goal of addressing the conservation
needs of several species. Two approaches are being implemented: an ecosystem-based,
multi-species approach and a single-species approach designed to address
the needs of individual species. The following sites and parks are currently
designated as priority sites:
Parks Canada staff also collaborates with other federal,
provincial and territorial agencies, as well as with universities and
not-for-profit organisations as an active member of many recovery teams.
