Dawson City, Heart of the Klondike
Few episodes in Canadian history have so captured imaginations as the fabulous Klondike Gold Rush. Thousands of adventurers and fortune seekers faced the rigors of the trail to dig for gold along creeks feeding the Klondike River. Dawson City, conveniently located at the junction of the Yukon and Klondike Rivers, quickly became the heart of the gold fields, and became a town of legend and lore, immortalized by Robert Service, Pierre Burton and Jack London. Visitors flock to this remote and beautifully preserved slice of history for a glimpse of the glorious past of the gold rush era.
