May 17th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Friends of the Saint-Ours Canal and the town of Saint-Ours, in partnership with Parks Canada, invite the public to come together on the Darvard Island of the Saint-Ours Canal for the first edition of this family celebration.

Residents can come and socialize over a picnic, participate in artistic workshops, enjoy guided tours as well as inflatable games. Come discover the various seasonal activities offered at the Saint-Ours Canal!

Need to recharge your batteries? The Saint-Ours Canal National Historic Site invites you to get moving in the open air through the courses offered by Céline Gariépy, every Monday and Wednesday, from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. On the menu: yoga, stretching, walking and more.

To learn more, come to the free trial session on May 18th, 10:45 a.m. Cost: $60 for 10 classes

Art Workshops

From May 23rd to August 15th, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Every Saturday morning during the warm season, the Friends of the Saint-Ours Canal will be offering artistic creation workshops under the supervision of a local artist. Marie-Ève Arpin has a degree in visual arts and is currently studying at the Université du Québec en Outaouais in the same field. Under her lead, you will be able to try different mediums like graphite, pastel, charcoal, and acrylic. All materials are provided.

Meet us at the Saint-Ours Canal Locks to participate in the various initiation workshops:

  • May 23rd: print
  • June 13th: anatomic drawing
  • June 18th: mix media
  • August 15th: portraits

Cost: $35 per workshop ($120 for 4 workshops)

Anne Cazé, lace maker and Saint-Ours resident, is offering bobbin lace courses on Tuesday mornings at the Superintendent’s house of the Saint-Ours Canal.

Le parcours des Arts du Richelieu - 13e édition

Parcours des arts

June 17th to 28th

Don’t miss the collective exhibition by the artists of Le Parcours des Arts du Richelieu (only in French), a first at the Saint-Ours Canal!

24 visual arts and crafts artists will display one of their works at the Surintendent’s House. Michel Barrette, renowned humorist and comedian, will be the spokesperson for this event.

The exhibition’s vernissage will take place on June 17th, 10 a.m. Come in large numbers!

Have you always dreamed of following in the footsteps of the famous archaeologist Indiana Jones? To mark the Archaeology Month, the Friends of Saint-Ours Canal is inviting families to the Superintendent’s House of the Saint-Ours Canal to participate in an introduction to archaeology activity.

On the menu that day: simulated archaeological digs, presentation of artifacts, prints and impressions workshop and more. Have your trowels handy!
