From May 9 to October 12, 2009, come meet our guides under the Dufferin Terrace!
The outdoor layout of the site gives visitors a unique experience. They can walkon the authentic stone paving of the original cellars built under each consecutiveSaint Louis château, learn by reading the texts hear the story of thegovernor's residence.
During the summer of 2008, 303 906 people visited the Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux National Historic Site of Canada. The Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux were the seat of political power and the official residence of most of the French and British governors. Historic decisions made from the heights of Cap Diamant influenced the development and history of North America.
Visitors can view an exhibit of artifacts found in archeological digs conducted in 2005, 2006 and 2007, and watch a short film on the history of the Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux.
Location: Louis-Saint-Laurent building, located at 3 Passage du Chien-d'Or, nearthe Dufferin Terrace.
Dufferin Terrace
Keep an eye out for appearances by Lord Dufferin, who will talk about the 130 years of history of his terrace, inaugurated in 1879.
He will be pleased to tell you how he made sure the Quebec fortifications have been preserved.
