A Delightful Papineau-Style Event

Saturday, July 12, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You are cordially invited to attend the Manoir Papineau’s garden party, modelled after similar social functions of the 19th century. Make the most of this great day of activities in the gardens of Louis-Joseph Papineau.

This major community event is also designed to provide assistance to the Petite-Nation food bank. All day long, volunteers will be on hand to take your donations and foodstuffs: be generous!

On the agenda

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: picnic lunch prepared by the famous kitchens of the Fairmont Le Château Montebello (reservations required).

11 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

  • Roving costumed interpreters by Dérives urbaines
Meet some characters straight out of the 19th century!
  • Lace-making workshops
View the techniques and skills of lace makers belonging to the Association des dentellières du Québec and try your hand at this old-time handicraft.
  • Horse and cart rides by Les Écuries Montebello
Like guests more than a century ago, take a cart ride on the trails surrounding the manor house.
  • Games for children
Several games typical of the era will amuse you and your family: croquet, hobby horse, cards, bowling, treasure hunt, etc.
  • Music concerts with the duo Contra-Danza
You’re sure to be charmed by the 19th-century music performed by clarinetist Denis Doucet and guitarist Sébastien Deshaies.
  • Photo area
Hats, parasols, fans and other accessories can all be borrowed for your own photo shoot in front of the manor house. Say cheese!

In addition, you can visit the “bel-étage” (“noble floor”) of the manor house in the company of a guide-interpreter. Don’t forget to sign the guest book!
