History 2 nd Cycle High School Program
Live the adventure of the Native trappers, of the French Canadian “Coureurs des bois” and the European merchants of the fur trade era. Discover the departure point of the Voyageurs and explorers in their adventures on Western Canada .
Two different programs are offered :
- Program at the site
- A presentation of the fur trade epic
- Several interactivities with the students
- Use of fur pelts, felt hats and other objects of the period that may be handled by all
- A quiz rally through the exhibit
- The legend of The Flying Canoe (La chasse-galerie)
- A visit of a Lachine canal Lock
Schedule :
April to mid-October :
Every day from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Mid-October to end of November :
Wednesday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Fee : 2,95 $ per student
Duration : 2 hours
- Program in your classroom
- An in-class presentation of the fur trade epic
- Several interactive activities with the students
- Use of fur pelts, felt hats and other objects of the period that may be handled by all
- The legend of The Flying Canoe (La chasse-galerie)
Several sessions may be scheduled in one day
Fee : $120 per class (one class at the time)
Duration : 1 hour
The presentations are designed for 2 nd Cycle High School History program
- The Nouvelle-France society (fur trade, Native trappers)
- The change of an empire (territory, population, culture)
- Social claims and fights in the British colony (The big Fur Trade companies)
