Once these projects and excavations were completed, a new national historic site was open to the public: the Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux National Historic Site of Canada. In 2008 and 2009, 500,000 people visited the site.

In 2010, Parks Canada initiated more projects in the south portion of the Dufferin Terrace. These important projects are now completed. The site has regained its floor and its former beauty, but it now hides a unique archaeological site. This year, the Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux National Historic Site is offering daily tours of the covered site. Come meet our passionate heritage interpreters between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. They will be happy to recount the history of the site to one group every hour. This family activity is free. The schedules are subject to change. For more information, please call 418-648-7016.
