On October 26, 1813, the Canadian troops under the command of Charles-Michel
de Salaberry won an important victory over the invading American forces led
by General Wade Hampton. The scene of this battle is located on the shores of
the Châteauguay River, 50 km southwest of Montréal, near the
U.S.-Canada border.
Battle of the Châteauguay National Historic Site of Canada commemorates
this feat of arms and the role played by the different combatants in defending
Canada.
