Lachine Canal National Historic Site of Canada
The Revitalization Project
The Major Works and Their Artisans
The revitalization of the Lachine Canal National Historic Site is quite a challenge. The agenda includes protecting and presenting hundreds of cultural resources bearing witness to more than 300 years of history, reintroducing navigation on a canal located in the heart of an urban centre, completing the improvements to the park and one of the most heavily used multi-purpose paths in the region, and harmonizing all of these interventions with a vast economic recovery and urban revitalization program affecting 4 municipalities. Within Parks Canada, several teams are working to ensure the success of this ambitious undertaking.
