An impressive Art Deco building houses the Atwater Market, a real institution in southwest Montréal, open since 1933. Linked to the canal's multipurpose path by a footbridge, this public market is enlivened by the many vendors' stands and specialized boutiques. Here, the Canal Boat Tour and the on foot guided tour around the market are good ways to discover the southwest of Montréal, past and present. In time, this sector will become a stopover point for land and river shuttles connecting the canal's various points of interest.
