You are now in what was the industrial heart of the canal for more than a century. In the vicinity of the lock, dozens of factories used water power to activate machines for milling wheat, sawing squared wood, weaving thread, making nails, and even building entire ships. Today, the development of the Pointe-des-Seigneurs archaeological park and renovation of the Redpath complex are testimony to the renewed vitality of the area.
