Parks Canada Open House for Lakefield Property

PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO, October 1, 2012 – The Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada invites residents, businesses and other interested parties to attend an Open House viewing of artist concept sketches for future uses of a Parks Canada owned river-front property in the Village of Lakefield:

Wednesday, October 10, 2012
7:00 - 9:00p.m.
Lakefield-Smith Community Centre
20 Concession St.

The sketches are based on ideas and development scenarios presented by the community at a public meeting held in February 2012. The Open House will ensure that all stakeholders have an opportunity to help narrow down the best development option. With this information, Parks Canada will then determine which scenario or combination of uses would be the most viable and desirable for the community

The property under discussion, located at 2 Smith Street, was previously used as an office and maintenance compound. The final property development scenario will be based on the needs of the community, keeping in mind that it must include enhanced public and visitor access, and a financial return to the Crown.
