Public Safety Notice Lock 32 Bobcaygeon
PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO, January 21, 2013 - The Director of Ontario Waterways and the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada advises that the Bobcaygeon lock will be de-watered for inspection and maintenance beginning the week of January 21, 2013. The perimeter of the lock will be fenced for most of the winter months.
For public safety, it is important that people stay away from all dams, water control structures, lock chambers and lock gates. Lock station grounds are not staffed during the non-navigation season from mid October to the end of May and are not intended for public use during those times. Some public safety hazards may exist. For instance, ice, and snow may remain on stairs and walkways. As some locations are remote and isolated, an injured person could remain unattended.
Parks Canada is proudly working on behalf of the people of Canada to maintain the heritage assets of the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site, ensuring that the canal system and surrounding watershed is safe and will endure for future generations. We look forward to welcoming you back next spring when the navigational season reopens for the 2013 season.
