Dam at Lock 37

The Bolsover Dam is located at Lock 37 on the Trent-Severn Waterway - a part of what is known as the historic Talbot section. Built in 1902-1903, the dam has reached the end of its lifespan and will be replaced. Construction is targeted to begin before the 2013 navigation season.

Environmental Assessment for the Recapitalization of Dam at Lock 37
This project triggered the need for a Screening level Environmental Assessment (EA) under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. The process was initiated when the project was placed on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry (CEAR) on June 7, 2006, and assigned CEAR Number 06-01-19406.

On behalf of the Honourable Peter Kent, Canada’s Environment Minister and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, Mr. Bruce Stanton, Member of Parliament for Simcoe North, and Mr. Barry Devolin, Member of Parliament for Haliburton–Kawartha Lakes–Brock, today announced the Bolsover dam construction contract award to Metric Contracting Services Inc. in the amount of $20.9 million.
