Hastings Swing Bridge
Hastings is getting a brand new swing bridge across the Trent-Severn Waterway on County Road 45. In the fall of 2010 the Hastings Swing Bridge was found to be in need of emergency repairs. After detailed analysis Parks Canada has decided on replacement rather than the repair as this will give a long term solution. Off-site construction work is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2013, with on-site work beginning in January 2014. This schedule accommodates the important economic boost of the summer tourism season and December holiday shopping.
