McFarlane Street Bridge Trent-Severn Waterway

PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO, APRIL 26, 2012 – The Superintendent of the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada advises that the McFarlane Street Bridge in Peterborough will be closed on Sunday April 29, from 6:00AM to 2:00PM for regular seasonal maintenance.

Parks Canada staff performs ongoing maintenance to continue providing Canadians with the opportunity for unique visitor experiences at Canada’s nationally significant natural and historic places.

Staff are committed to the completion of seasonal maintenance as quickly as possible to reduce public inconvenience Alternate routes across the canal include the Maria Street Bridge, Warsaw Road Swing Bridge, Hunter Street under the Peterborough Lift Lock and Lansdowne Street East.

Parks Canada is proudly working on behalf of the people of Canada to maintain the heritage assets of the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site, ensuring that the canal system and surrounding watershed is safe and will endure for future generations.
