Maria Street Swing Bridge Trent-Severn Waterway
PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO, APRIL 19, 2012 – The Superintendent of the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada advises that the swing bridge located on Maria Street will be closed on Sunday April 22, from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM for regular seasonal maintenance.
Parks Canada staff performs ongoing maintenance to continue providing Canadians with the opportunity for unique visitor experiences at Canada’s nationally significant natural and historic places.
Staff is committed to the completion of seasonal maintenance as quickly as possible to reduce public inconvenience. Alternate routes across the canal include the McFarlane Street Bridge, Warsaw Road swing bridge, Hunter Street under the Peterborough Lift Lock and Lansdowne Street East.
Parks Canada is proudly working on behalf of the people of Canada to maintain the heritage assets of the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site, ensuring that the canal system and surrounding watershed is safe and will endure for future generations.
