War of 1812 School of the Soldier
Fort George will host a training weekend for British, Canadian and American War of 1812 re-enactors from the Great Lakes region. Soldiers will bring the fort to life as they perform authentic drills and battle tactics from 200 years ago.

Saturday and Sunday, May 25 - 26

Battle of Fort George
Commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort George. Re-enactors from all over North America will descend upon Fort George as they re-enact one of the pivotal events in Niagara during the War of 1812

The Fort will be open from 10:00am-5:00pm all weekend with demonstrations happening throughout the day. Come visit the fort and re-live what it was like for men and women living in the Headquarters for the Center Division of the British Army in Canada during the War of 1812. Music, Muskets, Canons and more. Regular admission rates to the Fort apply.

Saturday May 25: 
  • 2:00pm – “The Battle of Fort George – Pt I” Re-enactment. Join us as we recreate the Initial stages of the Battle that happened 200 years ago. The Battle will take place on “The Commons” just outside the Fort. There is no admission fee to watch the Battle.
  • 9:00pm – “The Bombardment of Fort George” 200 years to the day we will re-create the U.S. bombardment of Fort George that left the Fort in a burnt ruin. This is an artillery, pryo, sound and light show that will end with a grand fireworks display. Doors open Approximately 1 hr before show begins. The show is general seating and lawn chairs are permitted. Regular admission rate apply with a special package deal for those who would like to visit the Fort during the day and attend the evening show. Tickets go on sale May 1st at the Visitor Reception Center at Fort George or by phone at (905) 468 6614.
Sunday May 26:
  • 10:00am – Parade through Historic Niagara on the Lake. Soldiers from both sides will parade through the down town of Niagara-on-the-Lake as they would have 200 years ago.
  • 2:00pm – “The Battle of Fort George - Pt. II” Re-enactment. Join us for the conclusion of the Battle as British troops retreat out of the area and U.S. forces occupy Niagara. The Battle will take place on “The Commons” just outside the Fort. There is no admission fee to watch the Battle.

Monday May 27:
  • Commemoration Ceremony – 7pm at the Niagara Rifle Range (Located Off Lakeshore Rd, Niagara On The Lake)
  • On the exact date on the actual battlefield site we will pay tribute to all who fell at the Battle of Fort George. This will be free to attend.

Thursday, June 6th

Your Allied British Regiment is Coming!!

The Corps of Drums of the 1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment (Vikings) whose ancestors served at Fort George and in Upper Canada during the War of 1812 will be parading through the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Parade starts at 4:00pm.

Please join us on this important historic occasion which will celebrate the links between the Royal Anglians and their Allied Canadian Regiment in Ontario. You are also cordially invited to join the allied regiments at 6:30pm inside Fort George as they perform the ancient military ceremony of the Beating Retreat. General Admission rates to the Fort apply.

The Concert on the Commons

City and Colour along with Metric, Jimmy Eat World, Serena Ryder and Yukon Blonde, will appear at The Commons @ Butler’s Barracks National Historic Site in Niagara-On-The-Lake on Saturday, June 29th. This will be City and Colour’s first performance in the Niagara Region since the release of his debut album, 7 years ago.

Tickets for this all ages event go on sale this Friday, March 1st at 10am. Gates will open at 2:30pm, day of event.

General admission tickets are $49.50 + service fees.
A limited number of VIP tickets will be available as of March 1st for $99.50 + service fees. VIP tickets include access to a VIP area with optimal main stage viewing, bleacher seating, VIP bar, shaded area, premium food vendors, VIP washrooms, and fast pass VIP entry.

Fife & Drum Muster and Soldiers' Field Day
Commemorate the 200th anniversary at Fort George. This weekend-long event is a pageant of military music by Fife and Drum corps from the United States and Canada as well as a competition of 1812 drill teams from Fort George, Fort Malden, Fort York and Fort Erie - a collection of the premier 1812 military sites in Ontario.

During this 15th year of the annual Muster and Field Day event, the 41st Regiment Fife and Drum corps will also be celebrating their 26th anniversary at Fort George. Come and experience the sights and sounds of the military garrison during the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812.

Fort George will be the site of a family holiday event that will include activities, crafts, and games for all to enjoy! Hot beverages and treats, as well as scheduled musket demonstrations will be provided. General admission rates apply.
