Fort George in the Great War

To commemorate the centennial of the First World War, Parks Canada and re-enactors from all across North America will bring Fort George National Historic Site's roots as Camp Niagara to life with displays and demonstrations honouring those who fought in the war to end all wars. Celebrate Canada's birthday at Fort George National Historic Site! Listen to period music, support the Friends of Fort George BBQ, don’t miss our captivating musket demonstrations and cannon firings! Canada Day festivities at the fort conclude with a fantastic concert and fireworks display! Free admission!

Fort George Celtic Festival

Fort George comes alive with the sounds of pipes and drums! In partnership with the Niagara Regional Police Pipe and Drum Band we welcome you to join us for the 3rd annual Celtic Festival. Hundreds of professional musicians will be in attendance for this event that will include: Celtic Dancing, a cheer tent, a kid’s zone, individual Pipe Band performances and the “Mass Band”! Let your kilts fly at the Fort!


Sense & Sensibility: A Barton Cottage Social (Friends of Fort George event)

Fife & Drum Muster & Soldiers’ Field Day
August 13 & 14, 2016

Join us for the 17th annual Fife & Drum Muster and Soldiers' Field Day! Fife and drum corps and infantry units from historic sites across Canada and the United States will converge on Fort George National Historic Site, showcasing the military music and drills of the early 19th century. This weekend-long event has become an annual tradition at Fort George, and is packed with firepower demonstrations, music and entertainment.

Echoes of Niagara’s Past: A Military Timeline Event
August 27 & 28, 2016

Join us as Fort George and the Lincoln and Welland Regimental Museum commemorate over 200 years of Niagara's military history. The Fort will come alive as interpreters, animators and veterans display uniforms, weaponry and vehicles from the War of 1812, the First World War, Second World War and other historic time periods. Demonstrations will be happening throughout the day inside Fort George.


3rd Annual Grand Canadian Steampunk Exposition (third party event)
September 23-25, 2016

A Grand Exposition of Canadian Steampunk grandeur, a festival of epic proportions, sights and sounds to entertain and delight... all this and more. Three days of Canadian Steampunk amazement and astonishment in southern Ontario in the Niagara region, featuring a night time concert (performers to be announced)! A largely-outdoor Steampunk festival within a War-of-1812 Canadian fort, with activities, presentations and workshops for all ages and interests.

Battle of Queenston Heights Commemorative Tours (Friends of Fort George event)
October 8 & 9, 2016

Join the Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada as we commemorate the 204th Anniversary of the Battle of Queenston Heights, and the death of Maj.-Gen. Sir Isaac Brock, Saviour of Upper Canada. Brock’s Monument National Historic Site will be open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. all weekend. Join us for guided tours of the Battle site, climb the 235 steps to the top of Brock's Monument and enjoy the scenic view of Queenston Heights Park and the Niagara River! Gather your family and friends and come to Fort George for an afternoon full of exciting activities, crafts and games celebrating Christmas! This is an annual family holiday event not to be missed.


New Year’s Day Levee

3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Join the Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada as we ring in the New Year at Navy Hall! Levee celebrations start at 3 p.m., and include toasts, music by the 41st Regiment Fife and Drum Corps, and a cannon firing to welcome the New Year.
