Bellevue House Floor Plans
The floor plan of Bellevue House is characterized by a multitude of levels and an irregular room arrangement that echo the irregular shape of the structure. But it also reflects another significant influence on domestic design in this period: Victorian notions of privacy and the sanctity of the family. The house is sharply delineated into public and private areas. Within the family area, a further division occurred as the attempt was made to separate servants from the family to the extent that was possible.
