By working in collaboration with respected organizations that share our values, Parks Canada is able to better deliver its promise to Canadians by continuing to be a world leader in the protection and presentation of Canada’s natural and cultural heritage. We believe in sharing leadership and working with our partners to offer unique, inspiring opportunities for Canadians to discover the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site.
We are proud to collaborate with the following partners:
Halifax Citadel Regimental Association
The Halifax Citadel Regimental Association (HCRA), established in 1993, is a non-profit organization which works with Parks Canada. The main focus of the HCRA's program is the re-enactment of the 78th Highland Regiment of Foot and the 3rd Brigade, Royal Artillery. The HCRA also offers visitor service experience for guests and manages the Regimental Shop and Coffee bar on site. This extensive living history program runs year-round for visitors to the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site of Canada.
Army Museum at the Halifax Citadel
The Army Museum at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site is located within the fort walls and is a member of the Organization of Military Museums of Canada, operating with the assistance of the Nova Scotia Museum and Parks Canada.
Since 1953, this private, non-profit institution has been faithfully preserving and promoting Atlantic Canada's military heritage. The items on display come from a vast collection of more than 70,000 military artifacts.
Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC)
Parks Canada and Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) have partnered to bring visitors the MEC Halifax Citadel Highlander Race: an opportunity to run through the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site and experience history in a whole new way.
The MEC Halifax Citadel Highlander Race is an annual running event that welcomes runners of all ages. The day’s events include a Kids Fun Run as well as Adult 5K and 10K races.
