Canada Day at Fort Anne

Celebrate Canada’s 149th birthday with Parks Canada - one year closer to Canada’s150th! Engage all your senses - sing “O Canada” as you proudly watch the flag raised at Town Hall, join Parks Canada’s mascot, Parka, in the procession, enjoy a piece of cake, set out your blanket for a picnic and enjoy the musical entertainment or play a round of croquet - fun for the whole family! Don’t forget to take your photo at the special Canada Day Fort Anne photo booth. 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Fort Anne and Port-Royal.

Saturday, July 16
Parks Day at Fort Anne

Celebrate Parks Day with an insider’s special tour of the Officers’ Quarters and the Fort Anne grounds. The English museum tour will be offered at 10:30 am followed by the French tour at 11:30 am. English tours of the grounds of the fort will be offered at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm with the French tours scheduled for 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm. Tours are complimentary with regular admission. Don’t miss this special opportunity not normally offered!

July 29 (evening) to July 31 (noon)
Encampment Days at Fort Anne

Come celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 84th Regiment of Foot 2nd Battalion (Royal Highland Emigrants). Enjoy the sights, the smells, and the sounds of black powder musketry, outdoor cooking and life in an 18th century military camp. The 84th Regiment creates a vivid picture of the conditions of centuries-old military life. Saturday afternoon (weather permitting) a tactical battle features 18th century military techniques.

August 20 & 21
Paint the Town in Annapolis Royal

Fort Anne National Historic Site welcomes artists taking part in Annapolis Royal’s Paint the Town event to produce artwork “en plein air” around the fort grounds. Come see artists at work and view the Fort Anne grounds through their eyes. Paintings will be sold later in the day by silent auction.

August 20 & 21
Heritage Victorian Cricket matches at Fort Anne

Fort Anne is thrilled to host the 4th annual Heritage Cricket Tournament. The crack of willow on leather will once again be heard in the Ancient Home of Cricket in Nova Scotia. The matches, complete with a traditional players' tea break between innings, will be contested wearing uniforms of the 1890's. An Introductory workshop to the sport will be offered at 10:00 am on Sunday – don’t miss your chance to learn a new sport!
