There is plenty to do at Signal Hill National Historic Site of Canada. Spend an hour, or spend the day...

  • Tour the Visitor Centre exhibits and relax with a coffee in "The Canteen."
  • Visit Cabot Tower and see the Marconi exhibit "Waves over Waves" on the second floor. Also drop into the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (HSA) gift shop on the first floor
  • Walk the trail to the Queen's Battery and learn about the life of the men of the Royal Artillery stationed here during the 1860s
  • Stroll the Lookout Trail, an interpretive promenade sponsored by the Johnson Family Foundation
  • Take the Johnson Family Foundation Grand Concourse Trail from outside the Visitor Centre to Cuckold's Cove Lookout
  • Hike from the Visitor Centre to the top of ''Gibbet Hill'' or the Queen's Battery
  • Explore the Ladies' Lookout Trail
  • Hike North Head Trail from the top of Signal Hill to the Outer Battery and return to the summit via Hepditch Hill Trail

During the summer season:

  • Take in the Signal Hill Tattoo, a re-enactment of 18th Century military exercises with period costumes, guns and cannon fire
  • Visit the Society of Newfoundland Radio Amateurs (SONRA) ham radio station on the second floor of Cabot Tower
  • Watch for whales, icebergs and seabirds
  • Take a few minutes to watch ships passing through the ''Narrows'' on their way in and out of the Port of St. John's
