“Soldier for a Day” childrens' program. This is an interactive program for children aged 6-12 years old. Designed to educate and entertain, participants experience a day in the life of a “Compagnies franches de la Marine” soldier at Fort Beauséjour-Fort Cumberland. Wearing a soldier's uniform, children are recruited into the fort's garrison. They will learn about the duties and obligations of a soldier by performing military drills and maneouvres, seeing what life was like in the barracks, food, health, illnesses and general living conditions of the time. An expedition and march to the trenches with an obstacle game will follow. Upon successful completion of the program, children are presented with a soldier's contract (certificate), a kit with soldier images and information on what was done that day, a colour photopraph of the child in uniform and an example of a daily ration (snack)! Length of the program is approximately 3 hours.
