For the Whole Family
Living History Program
Lower Fort Garry is staffed from May until September each year with costumed interpreters. They each assume the role of someone who lived in the Red River Settlement in the 1850s and are able to discuss any aspect of Red River history in character with visitors. This means that as a visitor, you are able to speak with someone "living" in the mid-19th century!
Period Demonstrations
Historically accurate activities take place (weather permitting). Gardening, wool spinning and dyeing, blacksmithing, upper class leisure activities, business meetings as well as traditional Aboriginal crafts and activities keep the Fort busy with something different to do almost every day of the season.
