Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site
The Lower Fort Garry grounds are open for visitors to enjoy. The Visitor Centre, washrooms and all historic buildings are closed. Lower Fort Garry will open for the 2024 season on May 21.

Just north of Winnipeg, on the banks of the Red River, sits a bastion of history. From hosting the signing of the first of the Numbered Treaties to serving as a Hudson's Bay Company stronghold and much more, Lower Fort Garry has had a varied and fascinating history.
Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site is on Treaty No. 1 territory: the traditional territory of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Red River Métis.
