"The parks are hereby dedicated to the people of Canada for their benefit, education, and enjoyment...and such parks shall be maintained and made use of so as to remain unimpaired for future generations." National Parks Act, 1930
The protection and preservation of the Cave and Basin in 1885, and it’s designation as a National Historic Site in 1981, are prime examples of Parks Canada’s mandate in action. From its thermal waters and historic bathing pavillion to the surrounding wetlands and the wildlife that inhabit it, this site offers visitors the opportunity to understand the value of these protected places.
You can help protect our heritage by learning about the features that make this site unique and by respecting the natural and cultural treasures – in all of Parks Canada’s special places.
