Old Time Ranch Rodeo
The Lord Strathcona Mounted Troop performing © Strathcona Mounted Troop
Sunday, August 10
A rodeo competition demonstrating traditional skills, still used today on ranches throughout the country. Join us for an exciting afternoon of broke horse racing, team sorting, branding and doctoring and wild cow milking. Teams of working cowboys from Alberta ranches compete for silver Bar U belt buckles and bragging rights!
2014 marks a special edition of the Old Time Ranch Rodeo. A century ago, a series of gunshots in Europe exploded into a global conflict that changed life in the foothills forever. The Bar U Ranch will commemorate the start of the First World War with a salute to the men and animals that served. During the rodeo intermission, the Strathcona Mounted Troop will perform a musical ride, an exciting cavalry drill and daring tent pegging.
