Prince Albert National Park of Canada is home to the only fully protected nesting colony of American white pelicans in Canada. Lower water levels in the lake may expose nesting sites to predators.
The Peace-Athabasca Delta, one of the word's largest inland deltas and a wetland of global significance, lies within Wood Buffalo National Park of Canada. Proper wetland conditions are critical to protect the only known breeding ground of the endangered whooping crane.
