The Letter P arks Canada has made it a priority to commemorate sites, persons and events associated with ethnocultural communities. Currently, about 65 sites, persons and events of national significance portray identifiable aspects of Canada's cultural diversity. To approach the commemoration of the history of ethnocultural communities more effectively, Parks Canada has adopted a number of broad principles. Self-definition of the cultural community and its understanding of related persons, events and sites of importance to the group are recognized as essential.
