Ferryland, NewfoundlandThe principles and practices that encourage the long-term conservation of our country’s historic places are described in this document. The fundamental principles for conserving historic places of all types were first outlined in a set of “Standards”. Detailed “Guidelines” then present the Dos and Don’ts of safeguarding archaeological sites, and preserving, rehabilitating or restoring historic landscapes, buildings and engineering works. Emphasis has been placed on providing sound, practical advice for conserving our rich and irreplaceable built heritage.
