The Government of Canada invites you to a ceremony for the unveiling of a Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada plaque commemorating the national historic significance of the Battle for Ortona, Italy.
In December of 1943, Canadians took the lead of the Allied advance along the Adriatic coast of Italy. The fighting at Ortona was extremely difficult, but with extraordinary courage the Canadians prevailed.
