The Ultimate Family Adventure is Back!

Grade 8 and secondary 2 students are invited to enter the Ultimate Family Adventure contest for a chance to win a four-day family trip to Parks Canada places in Cape Breton this summer.

Students have until June 8 to enter the contest at www.myparkspass.ca. To enter, they need the VIP code found on the back of their My Parks Pass, which was distributed to all grade 8 or secondary 2 students in Canada.

Entering is easy and the whole family could be part of this awesome experience. The winners will have the opportunity to fly on-board Air Canada and be part of the 300th anniversary of the founding of Île Royale – modern day Cape Breton Island – and its capital, Louisbourg, visit Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and much more!

VIA Rail Vouchers, Parks Canada Discovery Passes and other prizes are also to be won!

Congratulations to this year's winners of Canada's Coolest School Trip

Congratulations to Ms. Laurie Pylatuk's grade 8 class from Caronport Elementary School in Saskatchewan for winning this year's Canada Coolest School Trip contest. The 21 students and their teacher created a video advertisement that uses humour to compare a winter field trip to a farmer's field in Saskatchewan with an exciting trip to the Fortress of Louisbourg. Their ad was among the top entries based on public voting, and was selected as the winning entry by the jury.

The grand prize includes an all-expense-paid four-day trip on board Air Canada to visit Parks Canada places in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The class will participate in the 300th anniversary celebrations of the founding of Île Royale, now known as Cape Breton, discover the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, explore the spectacular Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and more! The trip will take place from June 3 to 7, 2013.

A runner-up prize is awarded to a class for each ad category: video, audio and print. These three classes win a lunch party, a special presentation by Parks Canada, and $500 to give to the charity of their choice.

The runner-up winners are:
Enviro School, Maple Ridge, British Columbia, video category
École Héritage, Falher, Alberta, audio category
Tyndale Christian School, Calgary, Alberta, print category

My Parks Pass - Activity Guide

The activities found in the My Parks Pass Activity Guide, created by The Historica-Dominion Institute, connect significant curricular themes to Parks Canada places, bringing our history and nature to life.

Developed in line with critical thinking pedagogy, the content of this guide will enrich junior-intermediate history, geography, environmental science, and social studies classes.
