  • You must be a full time student and intend to return to school / college / university / CEGEP as a full-time student at the end of your summer term of fulltime employment (2015).

Global Vision
The recruitment process for the Youth Ambassador program is supported by Global Vision, a Canadian non-profit organization with over 20 years of experience in championing the enterprising spirit of young Canadians in the promotion of Canadian industry and culture. They have an established record for engaging Canadian youth and supporting the development of these youth. Global Vision regional economic round tables and or Global Leader Centre sessions across Canada for young Canadians who are looking for new challenges. Requiring Parks Canada Youth Ambassador applicants to attend a round table has been an effective way for Parks Canada to meet the potential youth ambassador program applicants, observe their initiative and creativity, along with their presentation and group work skills.

Interested applicants must attend an upcoming Round Tables offered by Global Vision or have attended one in 2012, 2013, 2014 or 2015.

You can also apply if you have participated in one of the regional Leader Centre program or a Round Table held since February 2012 and meet all other application criteria. There is a registration fee to participate in the Round Tables. The fee covers the cost of transportation and/or accommodation and meals to the sessions closest to your province of residence.

Applicants Will Be Screened Against The Following Criteria And Must Clearly Indicate That They Meet The Established Criteria.

Education:

  • Must be a full-time student in an accredited institution, and be returning to full-time studies for the next academic term.

Language:

  • English or French Essential

Asset:

  • bilingualism

Experience:

  • Experience in volunteerism and community engagement
  • Experience using social media
  • Experience in creating and delivering presentations
  • Experience planning and organizing public events
  • Experience in public speaking

Applicants Will Be Rated Against The Following Criteria And May Be Rated Against Education And Experience.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Parks Canada’s places, mandate, corporate priorities and programs;
  • Knowledge of new technologies, media and social networks;
  • Knowledge of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their vision and values;

Abilities:

  • Ability to use creative and innovative ways to engage youth both locally and beyond
  • Ability to promote the mandate and experiences offered by Parks Canada
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to seek opportunities to establish new productive relationships;

Condition of employment:

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Be available for work full time from May to August 2015, then part-time from September 2014 to April 2015.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • Requirement to live in the National Capital Region from May until August.
  • Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required.
  • Requirement to work irregular hours, overtime, evenings, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.
  • Willingness to work from various locations.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight and/or weekends.

  • If you enjoy stimulating challenges, like to experience new places, can plan and execute a special event, and are a talented communicator who is creative and knows how to use social media tools, this challenge will be of interest to you.
  • The onus is on the candidate to submit an application that addresses directly the screening requirements of the competition (education and experience). Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or (possibly) missing information. Failure to do so may result in your application being rejected.

Location :

  • Gatineau, QC from May until August and remote from September until April.
