Parks Day Events (16 July)
National Historic Sites
Newfoundland and Labrador
Admission to National Historic Sites and Parks is free on Parks Day, 16 July.
Gros Morne National Park
It’s a shed party at Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse! There’s no better way to spend Parks Day than to eat local food, listen to traditional music, and celebrate with Newfoundlanders and Labradorians at Gros Morne National Park! As this is Parks Canada’s 100 year anniversary, we’ll be reliving some of the best parties at the lighthouse from 1911.
L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site
Vikings! Fireworks! Need we say more? Parks Day at L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site will be a spectacle to behold. And there is more! With new exhibits, outdoor art, tours of the sod houses, food, traditional music, children’s activities, and a bonfire, there is entertainment for all.
Port au Choix National Historic Site
Come hunt for fossils at Port au Choix National Historic Site! Explore the coast with your camera and see who can take the best photo of a fossil. Finish your day with a campfire.
Terra Nova National Park
Celebrate Parks’ Day with us! Take a hike, explore the coast or picnic with friends in Terra Nova National Park. While you’re here, join us at the Visitor Centre for Monitoring Madness. Meet our park biologists and view the park through a different “lens”. Admission is free.
