Association Forestière de la vallée du Saint-Maurice

L’AFVSM (Website in French only) is a not-for-profit organization committed to three areas:

Educating young people to respect the values of the forest environment and the sustainable development of forests by means of an educational program;

Promoting the rational use and integrated resource management of the environment through various activities, including conferences, workshops, etc.;

Raising awareness amongst the public, young people and other stakeholders about the importance of the forest through wilderness visits.

Parks Canada’s expertise and conservation projects are showcased in articles and public conferences presented by the association. 


Trois-Rivières' Club Jupiter


Club Jupiter

The Trois-Rivières Club Jupiter (Website in French only) regularly brings together people to exchange on astronomy and to observe the sky. They organize volunteer educational activities, conferences, outings and special events to raise public awareness about astronomy. Club Jupiter is part of the Fédération des Astronomes Amateurs du Québec and is an important partner of La Mauricie National Park in improving the programming of activities by presenting conferences on various subjects dealing with astronomy.

Skimau Cross-country skiing Club Shawinigan

The Skimau Cross-country skiing Club Shawinigan (Website in French only) came into existence at the end of the 1970s and currently has around one hundred members throughout La Mauricie. The club aims to promote cross-country skiing and help develop technical proficiency in both competitive and recreational contexts. The club organizes two winter skiing competitions on the spectacular slopes of La Mauricie National Park. 

 


 


Communauto

Communauto

Communauto was founded in Québec City in 1994. The company has a social, environmental and urban vocation. In addition to being the oldest car-sharing company in North America, Communauto was the first car-sharing organization on the North American continent to offer 100% electric cars to its customers, and to offer two types of car-sharing service (with and without reservation). Its service is based on the pooling of more than 2,000 vehicles. Communauto’s network is growing and is now present in 7 cities in Canada: Kingston, Ottawa, Gatineau, Montréal (Laval and Longueuil), Québec, Sherbrooke, Halifax, and, since 2012, in Paris.


Coopérative Enfant Nature


Coopérative Enfant Nature

Le Enfant-Nature (Website in French only) is a recognized solidarity cooperative in social economy whose mission is to reconnect children to nature with an aim of optimal development of their health and wellness. The ENFANT NATURE program and training in nature education are the two focuses of action while integrating parents as co-educators. ENFANT NATURE is an important partner of La Mauricie National Park for access by children and their families to the immense playground and terrain of discoveries that the Park represents.

Cyclo-Mauricie

Cyclo-Mauricie, in association with La Mauricie National Park, organizes each year, two large-scale activities in the National Park. During Les Défis du Parc, which is Canada’s largest sport cycling gathering, participants at all levels can take on a variety of challenges in several events on bike and on foot. Les Défis du Parc Nordique includes various timed races in cross-country skiing as well as a snowshoe geocaching loppet.

Info-Nature Mauricie

Info-Nature Mauricie is associated with La Mauricie National Park and the Forges du Saint-Maurice National Historic Site since 1982. The non-profit organization participates in various ways in the park’s activities, by making the public more aware of the importance of protecting environmental and heritage resources, by promoting the discovery and appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage and by managing the Wabenaki and Andrew Lodges and gift shops.

Les Roses

For the last 7 years, Les Roses (French only) movement has helped hundreds of women, from all over Québec, add physical activity to their lifestyle. In 2012, there were 35 women and now there are 300 of them between the ages of 16 and 67. Monthly meetings and a special training program help them achieve their ultimate goal, which is to participate in one of Les Défis du Parc competitions in La Mauricie National Park.

Canadian Ski Patrol (CSP)

The Canadian Ski Patrol (CSP) is a charitable organization which promotes safety and injury prevention, mostly in ski areas. At La Mauricie National Park, in summer and winter alike, volunteers certified by CSP patrol in paths and on lakes and are present during special events to ensure visitors’ safety and to provide first aid and first care.

Sentier national de la Mauricie (National Trail)

The team of volunteers associated with the Sentier national de la Mauricie (Website in french only) see to maintaining and promoting this trail, which crosses the Mauricie region from west to east. Parks Canada is collaborating on the maintenance of a portion of the trail lying inside the La Mauricie National Park.

Société de protection des forêts contre le feu (SOPFEU)

The Société de protection des forêts contre le feu (SOPFEU) (French only) is an organization which helps prevent forest fires and insures security for the hundreds of forest fires that affect Quebec annually. This Society cooperates with La Mauricie National Park by helping to determine the fire weather index. It also offers courses and supports our employees during the prescribed fires that favour the natural renewal of forests.

Mauricie Tourism

Mauricie Tourism is a non-profit nongovernmental association that promotes regional tourist attractions. The organization informs tourists and the local population about the different activities offered at La Mauricie National Park and at the Forges du Saint-Maurice National Historic Site.
