Reminder: Extended Lane Closure of Port Severn Road North

Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site

PORT SEVERN, ONTARIO – July 11, 2023 – Further to information released in February 2023, Parks Canada advises the public of an extended single-lane closure of Port Severn Road North in the vicinity of Little Chute Dam “G” (1 km west of Lock 45), starting July 12, 2023, for approximately six months to December 2023.

This closure is required to facilitate construction work on the dam, which includes rehabilitation of the abutments, wing walls, gains and sill, and replacement of the dam deck. Approximately 150 m of Port Severn Road North will be reduced to single-lane traffic during this time. The sidewalk on the south side of Port Severn Road North will remain open.

Temporary traffic lights and construction signage will be installed for the duration of the project. Please exercise caution when travelling through this area and follow all posted signage. Parks Canada thanks area residents and visitors for their patience and understanding.

Parks Canada is leading this important infrastructure work to ensure safe, high-quality experiences for visitors by improving heritage, visitor, waterway, and highway assets located within national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas, including investments in the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site in Port Severn.
