Lock 32 - Bobcaygeon

Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site

Lock 32, built more than 160 years ago, was the first lock constructed on the Waterway. Located in the heart of Bobcaygeon, boaters can find a variety of facilities and services nearby. Its prime location makes this lock one of the busiest ones along the Trent-Severn Waterway. Overnight mooring is available above and below the lock.

History
Bobcaygeon lockstation
Constructed: 1832-1833; 1854-1858;1919-1929

Lock 32 was the first lock built on the waterway and subsequently rebuilt in the 1850s with the support of lumber baron Mossom Boyd. A popular tourist centre both in the past and present, the lock was rebuilt again in the 20th century just west of the original location. A metal truss swing bridge provides access to the island created by the canal cut and is a very popular lockstation to this day.
