Celebrate the arrival of thousands of migrating whales in the waters off Newfoundland and Labrador during the annual Cape Spear Whale Festival!

Watch Humpbacks breach clear out of the Atlantic Ocean! Watch the salty sea air for spouts from Minke or Fin whales! Even spy the occasional Sperm, Orca or Blue whale! 22 species of whales, including the world's biggest population of Humpbacks, migrate to the Newfoundland and Labrador coast between May and September to feast on capelin, krill and squid. The cliff- top setting of Cape Spear lighthouse with its panoramic ocean view is a prime spot to watch the marine mammal action!

To celebrate the arrival of thousands of whales every year, Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site and partners host the annual Cape Spear Whale Festival with special events, touch tanks, kid's activities and – of course - whale watching!
