Welcome to Parks Canada’s web feature devoted to ethnocultural communities and their historic contributions to the cultural, political, social, religious and economic fabric of Canada.
Here you will discover the richness and diversity of Canadian history reflected in the places and experiences of those women, men, organizations and institutions that comprise Canada’s ethnocultural communities. These communities have helped shape our past and continue to shape our national identity now and in the future. This webpage also features additional links and a listing of those persons, events and sites relating to ethnocultural communities history that have been recognized as nationally significant by the federal government.
While Parks Canada is working to ensure the commemoration program reflects the individual and collective experiences of ethnocultural communities, Aboriginal peoples and women, much more can be done to enhance the system of national historic sites in these areas. Learn how you, your group or community can participate in the commemorative process by nominating an important person, event or site for national historic recognition.
