Introduction

Chapter PlaceHolder Image

Immigrants have always been an integral and valuable part of Canada's development. Many different groups of people from different countries have found freedom, a home, and prosperity in Canada. In this activity, students will learn more about the people of diverse origins who have been commemorated as nationally significant - people who made a new life in a new land and shaped our history. The exploration of the immigrant story begins with the national historic sites that commemorate the places where various immigrant groups first arrived in Canada, then looks at what happened to these groups over time.
