National Parks Odyssey A National Parks Odyssey
Students plan an environmentally responsible trip to several national parks. In small groups, they:
  • use information from a variety of sources to learn about each park’s ecosystems, species at risk, significance in the national parks system, and recreational opportunities;
  • assess each park’s ecological health; and
  • make a presentation to communicate their environmentally responsible travel plans.

Issues National Parks' Challenges
Students engage in a role-playing activity based on a case study to investigate a real issue facing one or more national parks. In small groups, they:
  • use information from a variety of sources to research different points of view;
  • conduct a round-table process to define the issue and discuss the options;
  • present their recommendations for managing the issue.
