A Helping hand For the Black Bear

Population

A population is a set of individuals of the same species that live and propagate in a given territory. The population constantly undergoes changes caused by a decrease (death, emigration) or increase (reproduction, immigration) in the number of individuals it contains.

Step 1: Estimate the total population of black bears in La Mauricie National Park.
Step 2: Estimate the number of births per year.
Step 3: Estimate the number of deaths per year.

Is the black bear population in the park declining? To find out, estimate its total population and verify whether the number of births and deaths are relatively equivalent.

Take your Science Log and do the proposed calculations for each of the three steps.
