A Helping hand For the Black Bear

Adaptation

As you look through this section, you will discover that black bears are well adapted to their environment. They are able to make the most of seasonal availability of food.

Their reproductive cycle is a fascinating example of adaptation. Biologists wanted to know if there was anything unique about the breeding habits of black bears in La Mauricie Park so they visited many female bears’ dens and handled many of the cubs.

Analyze the reproductive data recorded in your Science Log and you will discover the link between the diet of sows in La Mauricie Park and the number of births.
