The next step will be to develop an interim management plan that will focus on goals and objectives for the initial five years of operation. To achieve this end Parks Canada will work with a ministerially appointed interim management advisory board comprised of area stakeholders.

To ensure current realities for the area are reflected in their work, Parks Canada and the interim management advisory board will have to review the vision from 2002. Furthermore, reviewing the development concepts proposed five years ago will ensure conservation objectives and operational needs are balanced with heritage presentation, visitor experience and partnership opportunities.

The interim management planning process will include public consultation via open houses to provide residents and stakeholders with opportunities to provide comments on the plan. Upon completion of the interim management plan, Parks Canada will initiate a planning process to develop a long-term management plan for the area.
